Ahead of World No Tobacco Day this Sunday, we’re drawing urgent attention to the need for stronger, coordinated regulation of the tobacco industry worldwide.
The message is clear: without sustained political commitment at the highest levels, lives will continue to be lost.
This World No Tobacco Day (May 31), the World Health Organization is calling for action to “Unmask the Appeal” of tobacco and nicotine products, exposing how they are designed to attract users and sustain addiction.
And we’re proud to launch a new video series for World No Tobacco Day 2026, which features interviews from our recent Advanced Tobacco Control Legal Workshop, where participants from 20 countries shared key insights with us.
This video series features key challenges faced in tobacco control, including industry interference, emerging nicotine products, and the targeting of young people, highlighting the need for coordinated legislative solutions across borders. It also features powerful testimonials from our alumni.

Beyond World No Tobacco Day, we must remain vigilant to protect the progress achieved and prevent a new generation from addiction.
Tobacco and nicotine industries continue to use deliberate strategies to grow and retain their market. Products are engineered to enhance addictiveness, while misleading marketing and branding conceal the true harms. These tactics are especially effective in targeting young people, drawing them into a lifecycle of addiction and health issues, with up to 1 in 2 smokers dying from tobacco related disease.
Understanding and exposing these strategies are essential to countering misinformation and protecting public health.
Global Action and Collaboration: we know that addressing tobacco use requires coordinated, global action.
