The McCabe Centre and Quit were honoured to meet with a 12-strong delegation of government officials from Viet Nam today, to exchange experiences about tobacco control.

Discussions covered a broad range of topics including tobacco retail licencing, quit line support, e-cigarette and nicotine pouch regulation, legal challenges to tobacco laws and other relevant areas.

Supported by WHO Viet Nam and partners, it was helpful to have such multi-disciplinary representation of Vietnamese officials dedicated to combatting tobacco, representing various departments and bodies including the Department of Legislation, Administration of Disease Prevention, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice, National Assembly Social and Cultural Committee, the Law and Justice Committee of the National Assembly, and more.

We wish our colleagues in Viet Nam all the best with further strengthening tobacco control laws, and stand ready to support in our role as a WHO FCTC Knowledge Hub on Legal Challenges.
